Under the guidance of new artistic director Toan Nguyen, SCHIFFINI returns to Milano Design Week 2024 with a tribute to the iconic model designed by Vico Magistretti in 1999: CINQUETERRE.
The unforgettable Cinqueterre, which in 1999 revolutionized the market with its industrial aesthetic, presents itself in a new guise. Conceptual and avant-garde, the model has not undergone major changes, except for the new modularity designed to meet current market needs; and for the handle maintained in its original section but recalibrated in length.“Homage to the Cinqueterre by Vico Magistretti” introduces a new material dimension: the Portoro. The natural stone originating from the Gulf of La Spezia, almost as if to pay tribute to the brand’s Ligurian origin, complements the iconic finish of the model, anodized aluminium, giving the composition brightness, elegance and an unusual tactile sensation.
Next to the timeless Cinqueterre, the space has also been set up with the Lepic table, designed by designer Jasper Morrison, historical collaborator of SCHIFFINI. Designed in 2015, it is now proposed with a new finish and represents the perfect balance of lines and shapes, a return to simplicity that sums up the designer’s philosophy according to which “objects should not scream”.
The creative director, Toan Nguyen, brings into the composition the founding values of the SCHIFFINI brand, such as attention to detail, craftsmanship and the link with the Ligurian culture, but reinterpreting them in a modern way. The installation, exhibited in the showroom “Salvioni Design Solutions” of via Durini, is the story of a relaunch that takes life in an abstract island where tradition (aluminum) and novelty (stone) weave a material dialogue only in appearance dissonant, Naturally fusing one into the other.
